Hospital Patients Tap The 'Net For Homework

New Service Makes It Easy For Students To Access School Information When Absent

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7, 1998-- Missing school because of illness is no fun, and trying to keep up with homework assignments when absent can sometimes pose a challenge. Data Sense, Inc. is helping teachers and students meet this challenge via a free community service called SchoolNotes.com. The new service is making it easier for teachers to communicate school information to students confined to the hospital or the home for medical or other reasons.

``Hospitals are beginning to offer patients access to the Internet directly from their rooms,'' according to Ron Bocinsky, President of Data Sense, Inc. ``With SchoolNotes.com, teachers Can now tap the power of the world-wide-web to easily communicate schoolwork to students that are absent without having to worry about what kind of computers and software they use. All that is needed is access to the web,'' said Bocinsky.

``The SchoolNotes.com site is ingenious. We have a student undergoing medical treatment 300 miles away and we are setting up a file so teachers can easily get assignments to her regardless of the computer she is using,'' emailed a teacher from Enterprise, Oregon.

SchoolNotes.com is being used by thousands of teachers across all 50 United States and internationally in countries such as Canada and Australia. For its value in linking educators to the community, SchoolNotes.com has received numerous awards. One such award is the ``Blue Web'n'' from the Pacific Bell Knowledge Network, an honor reserved for the best online lessons, resources, and tools.

``As more and more teachers, parents, and students gain access to the Internet from school, work, and home, SchoolNotes.com is proving to be a terrific way for teachers to inform absent students and also to get parents more involved in their child's education,'' said Bocinsky.

SchoolNotes.com complements school websites by providing teachers and other individuals a very easy-to-use tool for posting school information on their own web page which can be linked directly to a school website. No programming, training or special software is needed, just access to the world-wide-web. SchoolNotes.com is a free community service made possible through community sponsors.
