I am hoping you can have a discussion with your first grader every night/morning about these "self" personal checks.... :) we have 4 basic rules. 1.Raise your hand to share 2. Keep your hands and feet to yourself 3. Be kind 4. Listen with your whole body The five steps of being ready to transition are..... When the class/students are asked to "give me 5," they are being asked to use their whole body to listen. 1.Voice is off-no talking 2. Hands are still 3. Feet are still 4. Eyes are watching-looking at the teacher 5. Ears are listening When a teacher is speaking, it is expected that the first graders will follow these 5 steps to focus and listen. Each day we work on remembering to follow these steps. Being reminded at home, will help us be aware of and follow teacher directions, stay on task, and quiet down quickly when transitioning to different activities. It also helps build a calm, respectful classroom environment. Any help you can offer at home to reiterate and review our classroom behavioral expectations is greatly appreciated! **Please remember I am human :) [0-12235] 2787 This webpage is not required but it is a super resource for my students and parents.
